People of all ages participated in the Race Against
Child Abuse in Wellsville on Saturday to commemorate
Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Some of the 175 racers were as young as 2 years old,
said Leigh Dean, one of the coordinators for the event.
There were two events that participants could choose
from, a one-mile race and a 5K race. Each event had
categories ranging from 8 and under to 60 and older.
Awards were given to the top three contestants in each
category as well as the overall winners for males and
females.
All of the proceeds from the race went to support
the Child and Family Support Center, which had not finished
calculating how much was made as this story was published.
Dean said this is the first year that they have held
the race, but she hopes to see everyone again next year.
