"I've always been all over the lot in my writing. Except for poetry -- even though they say all the old-time sportswriters use plenty of it. Maybe it's just part of what we do."

High school student has music player stolen from locker

By Emily Redfield

April 20, 2007 | LOGAN -- A student at Logan High School reported Wednesday that his Zune mp3 player had been stolen out of his P.E. locker.

The student's mother reported the theft to police Wednesday afternoon. The school resource officer, Deputy Dickey, took a statement from the student, said Louise Speth, the Logan City Police Department's public information officer.

The student said he was asking the boys around the locker room to see if any of them had seen his Zune, and none of them had. He noticed a younger boy paying close attention to his conversation, but did not know who he was, Speth said.

Dickey reviewed the surveillance camera outside of the locker room, and counted about 15 students coming in and out during the time in question, she said.

"Most urban schools have security cameras like the ones in Logan High," said Speth.

The stolen mp3 player is worth about $250, she said.
