December 4,
2007 | The Utah State University College of Business
received nearly $26 million from Jon M. Huntsman Monday
at a ceremony held in the Taggart Student Center.
This is the largest donation USU
has ever received and the College of Business was renamed
to the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business.
The gift will be split into two parts
giving $25 million to the school of business and roughly
$1 million to will go toward student scholarships.
The Dean of the new Huntsman School
of Business, Douglas Anderson, said the gift could not
have come at a better time.
"Jon and Karen Huntsman are
investing in this school at a time when we have tremendous
momentum and our relationship with them can only accelerate
our progress.”
This is not the first gift that Huntsman
has given to USU. He also funded the Huntsman Environmental
Research Center, the David B. Haight Alumni Center and,
earlier this year, he provided 13 scholarships, totaling
$850,000, for Armenian students to attend USU for four
years.
"Utah State University is a
beautiful and most-unique academy for higher education
in America," Huntsman said. "We shall provide
every possible means to continue its growth toward a
world-class institution."
