February 8, 2008 | NORTH LOGAN -- At the mouth of Green
Canyon lies King's Park, where over a year and a half
time frame many additions have been made for the community's
enjoyment, with more to come this spring.
The wildlife in Green Canyon are hard pressed to find
food during the winter, so to ease this problem North
Logan has put together a feeding program for the animals
by supplying hay and food supplements to keep them alive
and in the area. Everything from deer to the occasional
moose have been seen living in this area, so its preservation
is essential.
The additions to be made in the spring are adding
a lake both for aesthetic and wildlife enjoyment, the
equestrian center moved to the park so people may ride
horses up through the canyon and the surrounding trails,
a pavilion for reunions and weddings with the canyon
as the backdrop.
Mayor Cary Watkins is excited for the changes and
the way the park will let the community enjoy the natural
beauty surrounding them. He emphasized that the already
used area will become even more used and it remain as
naturalistic as possible.
There isn't anything else in Utah like it, it is beautiful
said Watkins. With new trails, extended land into the
canyon, skiers, hikers, picnic tables along the way,
this will be a perfect place to enjoy during both the
winter and the summer. It will preserve the land and
save a part of the natural history for future generations
to enjoy.
