Grammatically Speaking:

"We owe much to our mother tongue. It is through speech and writing that we understand each other and can attend to our needs and differences. If we don't respect and honor the rules of English, we lose our ability to communicate clearly and well. In short, we invite mayhem, misery, madness, and inevitably even more bad things that start with letters other than M."

Delectable desserts for Valentine's Day: The best of Cache Valley

By Natalie Archibald

February 13, 2008 | "Can I interest you in some dessert?" is a common phrase heard by couples dining out. On Valentine's Day, dessert is something people look forward to. Valentine's Day is a day to not feel guilty eating cheesecake or chocolate cake.

If you are taking that special someone to dinner, you won't be disappointed in the selection of desserts around Logan. Dessert can be the best part of the meal and there are so many options, it is sometimes hard to pick.

The Chocolate Layered Mousse cake can be found at Le Nonne, which is one of Logan's best kept secrets. This three-layered concoction consists of dark chocolate on the bottom, milk chocolate in the middle, and white chocolate on top with white chocolate shavings. From the first bite you will fall in love with chocolate all over again. It is light and fluffy and it seems to melt the moment it is in your mouth. This dessert costs $6.00. Le Nonne is at 129 N. 100 East.

If you are craving something other than chocolate, the Homemade Cheesecake from Blackstone is what you are looking for. This cheesecake is made with a soft graham cracker crust; it is so soft it's hard to tell there is even a crust. The filling is creamy, smooth and fluffy. The topping for the cheesecake can be either fresh raspberry or fresh strawberry sauce. The homemade cheesecake is Blackstone's most popular item and it costs $4.95. Blackstone is at 255 S. Main in Logan.

At Iron Gate Grill the Red Hot Pot of Chocolate is the specialty for Valentine's Day. Sounds intriguing, doesn't it! This delicious dessert is made up of white chocolate battered cake baked with red hots and white chocolate in the center that melts to a creamy perfection. The cake is served warm with vanilla bean ice cream on top and red hots sprinkled all over it. This dessert costs $6.99. Another special dessert served only on Valentine's is a Red Velvet cake that costs $3.99.

This dessert is for chocolate lovers! The Chocolate Decadent Torte is from Hamilton's and it literally melts in your mouth. It is a bittersweet chocolate torte served with crème anglaise and raspberries. The torte is not heavy and it has a light texture. It costs $7.00. Hamilton's is located at 2427 North Main.

These desserts will make your Valentine's Day special and are all great choices, as Remy the rat says in the movie Ratatouille, "If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff."
