Grammatically Speaking:

"We owe much to our mother tongue. It is through speech and writing that we understand each other and can attend to our needs and differences. If we don't respect and honor the rules of English, we lose our ability to communicate clearly and well. In short, we invite mayhem, misery, madness, and inevitably even more bad things that start with letters other than M."

Red Rover, Red Rover, send Hyde Park on over

By Bethany Crane

February 22, 2008 | NORTH LOGAN -- A larger than normal crowd turned out for City Council meeting because the annexation plans for the city were discussed. Although only plans are underway, people were concerned and wanted to learn more about the situation, though no one raised their voice in the meeting.

"Right now the only difference to them is that they would start paying North Logan property taxes." said City Administrator Jeff Jorgensen about the plans for certain areas.

It is still a plan so more additions and revision are being made, though some of the areas are unincorporated already. There won't be much of an economic impact from these areas since the majority already have utilities and homes in those areas.

A map of the proposed annexation policy plan shows the areas designated for change. A few objections have been raised to the annexation of certain areas but according to the map, areas A and B would be the first to be annexed. Most of the areas to be annexed have already been enjoying the benefits of North Logan, making this more of a technical change than anything.

Other changes are coming with possible price changes for business license fees which are brought to light from the annexation plans. They are to be determined at the next meeting.

"I don't want this to be the excuse not to come and run a business in North Logan," said Councilman Steve Soulier.

The next city council meeting will be on March 5, where more finalized plans will be presented and questions are available to be answered. As an additional change the meetings for the next few months will really begin at 6:30 p.m., the half hour before is financial information for the city which is also open for the public but the issues mentioned will be discussed after that time.
