Where are your priorities?

"It is inexcusable for scientists to torture animals; let them make their experiments on journalists and politicians."

Some Millville residents to get new addresses without having to move

By Leah Lopshire

February 25, 2008 | MILLVILLE -- Plans for a new street name continued in Thursday's Town Council meeting. The street that is currently marked 500 East will become 550 East, and will be 550 East along the entire length of the road.

The revision of the road structure in town has been in progress for several years. During the revision the council caught an inconsistency in the numbering of the road now marked 500 East when they compared Millville's roadway corridor study with the Questar Gas map.

The plan has not yet been passed by the council because of final tweaking that must go on. Some of the concerns the council is still having is how to instruct those affected by this switch on how to change their addresses, and who else would need to be informed. When discussing what to have on the letter that will go out announcing the change, Recorder Rose Mary Jones suggested having instructions she said, "If I were a homeowner what exactly would I need to do?"

Another problem brought up was by Gary Larsen when he said, "We should change the signs in conjunction with the letters going out." This would help with possible confusion.

Other suggestions to reduce confusion were made by Jared Taylor, to send out zoning maps along with the letters.

At the next council meeting on March 6, City Planner Harry Meadows is scheduled to bring a revision of the draft for the council to review.
