Grammatically Speaking:

"We owe much to our mother tongue. It is through speech and writing that we understand each other and can attend to our needs and differences. If we don't respect and honor the rules of English, we lose our ability to communicate clearly and well. In short, we invite mayhem, misery, madness, and inevitably even more bad things that start with letters other than M."

River Heights gets bids for park bathrooms

By Paul Kelley

February 28, 2008 | RIVER HEIGHTS -- Bids for the new bathrooms at Ryan's Place Park have been submitted.

Two bids have been returned from two companies. Mayer Bill Baker will be presenting the bids to the council at the next council meeting. It was mentioned that the bathrooms are going to be modeled after a facility that is in a park in Fruit Heights. The facilities will have a nice rock finish and a tin roof.

Councilwoman Kathryn Hadfield said, "I have had kids in my ward ask me about Eagle Scout projects."

The council discussed one project about building park benches. Kent Parker said, "Another project come spring is they could paint the fire hydrants."

Discussion on the possible cell tower has continued with AT&T. A representative is supposed to contact the city on how big the base of the tower will have to be. The next step is to get AT&T to fill out an application so the planning and zoning commission can start the public discussion process.
