Grammatically Speaking:

"We owe much to our mother tongue. It is through speech and writing that we understand each other and can attend to our needs and differences. If we don't respect and honor the rules of English, we lose our ability to communicate clearly and well. In short, we invite mayhem, misery, madness, and inevitably even more bad things that start with letters other than M."

Nibley names new director of recreation

By Ashley Zarate

February 29, 2008 | NIBLEY -- The city recently named Casey Judd as the new recreation director. Judd is a volunteer director and works free of charge for the city helping Councilman Scott Larsen.

Larsen and Judd plan to bring new ideas to the table and create a better sense of community in the town. Judd said Nibley is growing rapidly, and his main focus is to accommodate all of the new families and children.

"Nibley is in an interesting phase because it is growing so fast," Judd said. "It used to be older families and now it is younger families with children. That brings more challenge for us."

Judd has his bachelor's degree from Utah State University in parks and recreation with a minor in management. He formerly worked as the special events and sports coordinator for the Logan Parks and Recreation department. He currently works as the events coordinator for the USU conference service.

Judd plans to bring an organized sports program to the table and also more community festivals.

"Sports are growing tremendously now," he said. "We have more kids than facilities and I want to organize a program to accommodate them. I also want to make more movie nights in the park and festivals for holidays."

Judd is just one of the many volunteers that make community events possible. As always, the city is looking for volunteers to help with events. Call Judd if you would like to be involved, 435-787-8395.
