February 29, 2009 | NORTH LOGAN -- The building is
new, the staff is excellent, but what exactly does the
Cache Professional Development and Technology Center
do? In an effort to expand the offices and resources
available to district employees, the new building was
constructed and a variety of new programs have been
made available.
"It's a great work environment." said Bryce Greenhalgh,
an information specialist for the center.
Greenhalgh is developing and reviewing new online
software to become available to teachers in the district
and providing technical support for the glitches that
come along in the system. He is one of many who have
been moved to the new building, which was originally
meant to be an extension of the city offices of North
Logan.
"In the old building everyone was huddled in one office."
said Greenhalgh. This center has multiple board rooms
for school district meetings and offices to free up
the space in the other buildings.
Judy Gibbons an IS support/training department head
who has worked for the School District for many years
said, "It's a great place to work."
There must have been improvements for that seems to
be the general consensus. New technology classes have
been made available to staff members for the district
to better assist them with their computer needs. This
is just one of the many ways that programs have been
made to make the School District more effective and
communication widespread. The building is solely for
district use and the rooms are used for everything from
video conferencing to professional development.
The building was completed in 2007 but the effective
use has just begun and it promises to be a great step
forward for the school district.
