experts'

January 24, 2007 | Roughly 250 people gathered in
the gym at River Heights Elementary Tuesday night to
see the unveiling of the community park design.
The park, which will be built in early May, was specially
designed after elementary schoolchildren shared their
ideas and drawings.
Barry Segal, a designer from Leathers & Associates,
flew more than 16 hours to do a design day with the
kids in River Heights, then spent the afternoon drawing
his plan for the park.
"This is not a pre-fab unit you buy in kit form,"
Segal said. "People will come from all over the valley
to visit this park."
Ryan's Place will be built strictly by volunteers
as a memorial for Ryan Adams, a 2-year-old boy who drowned
in Lake Powell last summer. The funding for this project
is through community and individual donations, which
can still be made at Cache Valley Bank.
But Segal said one of the most important things needed
is people.
"We need a lot of people," he said. "Volunteer. It
will be one of the best experiences of your life or
at least the best vacation days you'll ever take."
Segal said even with all the volunteers and funds
this is still going to be a big project and the community
will still have to put "one foot in front of the other"
to complete it.
"Every project has its miracles. We have yet to see
what miracles this project will have."
