Grammatically Speaking:

"We owe much to our mother tongue. It is through speech and writing that we understand each other and can attend to our needs and differences. If we don't respect and honor the rules of English, we lose our ability to communicate clearly and well. In short, we invite mayhem, misery, madness, and inevitably even more bad things that start with letters other than M."

New councilman sworn in at Lewiston

By Davis Archibald

January 17, 2008 | LEWISTON -- Newly elected council member Matt Curry was sworn in Tuesday night at the City Council meeting.

Curry had been on the council previously but was not able to complete his time because he moved. According to Curry, when a spot opened up to rejoin the council, neighbors encouraged him to run again. Curry was assigned to look over the library, theater, youth council, economic development and the Cub River Sports Complex.

"I'll have to get into the responsibilities before it gets overwhelming," Curry said.

Along with the swearing-in of Curry, Mayor Kelly Field proclaimed February "White Ribbon Against Pornography" month.
