Today's word on journalism

Friday, April 11,
2008

More from the Do-Gooder File:

"For much of his career, he could outthink, out-hustle, out-report, outeat, outdrink and outwork any other journalist in the country. But if his excesses were occasionally unbridled, they were driven by his passion to get a good story and root out the bad guys. ... He could get excited about an investigation of public corruption or a bizarre animal story. We once spent weeks following a story about a dog on 'death row' that Bob believed was 'innocent.'"

--Howard Schneider, former Newsday editor, on the death yesterday of Bob Greene, larger-than-life investigative reporter, editor and Pulitzer winner, April 10, 2008

Brimley takes ASUSU president by 14 percent

By Marshall Young

March 5, 2008 | The results of the 2008 ASUSU elections were announced Wednesday in the Sunburst Lounge, and they announced Grady Brimley as the new ASUSU President. Much effort went into the election, with several close races. Supporters from the various campaigns filled the lounge, cheering for their favorite candidates. Perhaps one of the biggest roars came at the end when they announced Grady Brimley as the presidential winner.

“Thanks to all who have been helping me, this has been a lot more work campaigning than I thought. I promise you I won’t disappear on the third level of the TSC. I’ll be right there with you at all the activities,” said Brimley with his enthusiasm. “USU is the best school in . . . heck, anywhere!”
