Richmond
council OKs creation of youth safety council
By Matt Sonnenberg
March 27, 2008 | RICHMOND -- The City
Council met Tuesday and approved two separate proposals
aimed at benefitting local youth.
The first of the two proposals was
the proposition of starting a youth safety council throughout
Cache County, presented by Mitch Frost of the Cache
County Sheriff's Office. The plan for the youth safety
council is to have one youth representative selected
from each town or city in Cache County to meet with
other youth representatives on a quarterly basis to
address concerns of youth safety.
Frost said that the youth council
will be split into North and a South chapters to cut
down on distance to travel for meetings. Frost said
that the most likely meeting places for the youth council
would be Mountain Crest High School for the South branch
and Sky View High School for the North branch.
Councilman Jeff Young volunteered
to assist in selecting a local youth to represent Richmond
on the youth safety council.
The second of the two proposals was
a proclamation for child abuse prevention presented
by Child and Family Support Center. The proclamation
was to name April Child Abuse Prevention Month. Following
a short video presentation, the council approved the
proclamation.
