| Nibley
councilman resigns from position after employment termination
By Alison Baugh
March 19, 2007 | NIBLEY--City Councilman Scott Wells
announced his resignation at Wednesday's planning and
zoning meeting.
After an unexpected termination of his employment
at USU, Wells and his wife decided to move to Las Vegas
to be closer to their children and allow Wells to continue
working in the communications field. Wells will continue
his position on the city council and zoning and planning
commision until April 1. After serving for 11 years
on the council, Wells won't be able to finish his third
term, but he thanked everyone for their hard work.
"I really appreciate serving in this town," Wells
said.
While Wells may be leaving Nibley, two new businesses
will be coming in. Winard Construction and Design Inc.
is a construction company run by Brad Winward. The business
will be located at his house at 227 W. 3300 South. Winward
will usually do work on site, but what he does do at
home will happen in his accessory building next to his
house.
"I had this set up previously in Wellsville and it
worked good," Winward said.
RLM Investment Inc. was the second new business approved
by the commission. Raymond M. Clark said this business
is basically a "hard money investment" setup where he
and his wife give their money to Paragon Lending in
Salt Lake, who invests it for them. The business license
will mainly be used for tax purposes, according to Clark.
Both conditional use permits and business licenses
passed with a unanimous vote. The next planning and
zoning meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 29.
