March 16, 2009 | MILLVILLE The City Council approved
a conditional use permit for an accessory dwelling Thursday
night, but not without some resistance.
A public hearing was held about the basement apartment
that Aubrey and Larry Soule wish to rent out. Stephanie
Taylor, a neighbor of the Soule’s, said she felt fine
with their plans and had no problem with them wishing
to rent it out.
Shirley Tomlinson, another neighbor, said that she
didn’t approve at all, and said “we don’t know who will
move in, they should buy an apartment instead if they
want to have renters.”
The public hearing was closed and several other agenda
items were discussed before the council voted unanimously
in favor of the Soule’s conditional use permit.
The other items included approving an Arbor Day grant,
a business license for James E. Fields’ Mountain Greenery,
and discussion of the Web site.
