October 24, 2007 | RIVER HEIGHTS -- There was a unanimous
vote amongst City Council members to adopt the ordinance
(2-2007) increasing the Transit Sales Tax within the
city of River Heights.
Mayor Bill Baker stated that, "The state changed the
law and is requiring each of the cities that are collecting
transit taxes to conform their ordinance with the state
law. That's the whole reason for this." The tax will
increase from .25 percent to .30 percent.
In other news, the council:
-- celebrated Councilman Brent Greenhalgh's birthday
with cake, balloons, and noise"less" makers. Happy Birthday
Brent!
-- established that River Heights' Public Works Supervisor,
Kent Parker, will be testing the water system for traces
of radium.
-- is still working on the plan to alter the parking
structure around Ryan's Place Park.
