By Lukas Brinkerhoff
October 23, 2007 | ST. GEORGE -- Seventy-nine-degree
temperatures were enjoyed by participants of the Tour
de St. George last weekend while Northern Utahans suffered
through a cold couple of days.
Along with beautiful weather cyclists delight in the
scenic vistas along the route. The ride route goes through
three state parks. It pases through Sand Hollow State
Park, Quail Creek State Park and comes to an end after
descending through Snow Canyon State Park.
Just over 400 participants showed up to ride the Tour
this year, according to event organizer Ryan Gurr. Gurr
said that the even has consistently grown adding about
100 new riders each year. The Tour de St. George has
been going on for three years.
The next organized cycling event in Southern Utah isn't
until February but sun seekers can get their fix just
about any weekend. Local rider Bryce Pratt said, "I
ride year round, with the right gear we can ride all
year."
