Today's word on journalism

On Objectivity:

"I still insist that 'objective journalism' is a contradiction in terms. But I want to draw a very hard line between the inevitable reality of 'subjective journalism' and the idea that any honestly subjective journalist might feel free to estimate a crowd at a rally for some candidates the journalist happens to like personally at 2,000 instead of 612 -- or to imply that a candidate the journalist views with gross contempt, personally, is a less effective campaigner than he actually is."

-- Hunter S. Thompson, from Fear & Loathing: CORRECTIONS, RETRACTIONS, APOLOGIES, COP-OUTS, ETC., a 1972 memo to Rolling Stone editor Jann S. Wenner, excerpted in the current (November 2007) issue of Harper’s Magazine (Thanks to alert WORDster Andy Merton)

REVIEW: Best peanut-butter ice cream is at Cold Stone

By Brooke Devey

October 29, 2007 | Ice cream . . . who would want anything more? Ice cream is what makes the world such a happy place. Ice cream is the perfect treat that is most often craved by Americans. In all its delicious flavors that best suits any time of season in the year.

What personally excites me the most is exercise. My workout for the day is what I look forward to. Eating ice cream on the other hand is equally exciting. Despite the fact that exercising and eating ice cream do just the opposite for you. Even my exercise science mentality has to have an outlet that they can turn to, their own fix they may need from time to time.

Due to my ice cream delight, I do have a personal favorite of my own. The flavor that I desire most is peanut butter ice cream. To some may find this a bit odd, but not for me to say the least. To make this peanut butter fix of mine even more delicious is to eat it with brownie mixed in to the ice cream.

My curiosity level has peaked as to discover which ice cream shop I could go to receive the best peanut butter ice cream.

So if you head on over to TCBY ice cream shop for Ben & Jerry's you will find that the peanut butter ice cream is quite delightful. The ice cream is very sweet. The ice cream is extremely chunky ice cream, almost like a shake. It contains a rough texture and with the brownie included in to the ice cream is heavenly. It's heavenly because the minute you eat it, well let's just say it becomes addicting. It's where I like to go after having a hard day at school. And when I've missed my work out for the day. Then I don't feel as guilty to eat it rather than if I had worked out that very day.

Then if you go over to Cold Stone Creamery you shall find the best ice cream ever! Cold Stone's peanut butter ice cream is always so thick and consistent. You actually feel like you are eating real ice cream when you go there. And I love to watch them place real brownie into the peanut butter ice cream and then proceed to mix it all up. What I like so much about Cold Stone is the choice to eat it with a small spoon. It's hard to finish all of it in the cup. It's like unto the feeling you receive after running a 10K you are on a high for deliciousness that you deserve to have!

If you go over to Charlie's you will find a cheap version of what you asked for. Except the peanut butter is literally drizzled syrup over the vanilla?? Enough said to how that tastes like. You actually have to mix it all up for it to taste like what you desire for.

Of these three places Cold Stone is by far the most expensive, but I think better quality. Despite the fact you almost feel the ice cream going directly to your hips the minute you partake of it. I think it's worth the price you pay for. I think if you are going to get something good, you might as well get the best!
