Heavenly fettucine alfredo at Callaway's in Smithfield

By Bethany Crane

October 29, 2008 | Callaway's is worth the drive to Smithfield from Logan. If you have a debate about whether to go to Olive Garden or Callaway's, for just a few dollars more you can receive superior food.

When I arrived there with my dinner party the place was pretty much deserted since it was late Tuesday night. They close at 9 so plan ahead if you're getting a group together. The hostess was kind and obliging, took us immediately to our table and set us up with menus and drinks. Our waitress was a nice young lady who did exactly what she was supposed to but no more.

You have a jar of breadsticks brought to your table to dip in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. With your meals you have a choice between soup or salad. They have a different soup every day, so if it doesn't take your fancy you can order salad with an array of salad dressing options.

I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. It was divine, the alfredo was smooth and creamy covering the pasta and its contents entirely. The sauce has the perfect blend of flavor without covering up the taste of what is in the dish. The shrimp was large and complimented by the sauce. A large enough serving that I had to take leftovers home, but I raised no objections to that.

The bill was served promptly to us when it looked like we were finished but we weren't being pushed out. The atmosphere is friendly and the restaurant style resembles the interior of a cabin with miscellaneous decorations. There's also an option to sit on their covered patio or sit inside, if the weather is not warm outside I recommend the inside.

I recommend this restaurant at the top of my list for anyone, it has the best fettuccine alfredo that I've ever had. It's a good option for a date night or celebrating with someone.
