Colosimo's, Utah's authentic Italian sausage maker

Photography:: Erin Wadsworth

MAGNA -- Ralph Colosimo came to America in 1921 from Calabria, Italy, with the recipe for Italian sausage in his head. He worked the mining towns of Utah before settling in Magna, on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. In 1923 he opened a store on the corner of 9200 west and 2900 south, and Colosimo's was born.

Colosimo's makes dozens of kinds of sausage, including bratwurst, black pepper and Colosimo's Original Italian Mild.

Salt Lake City residents now have a closer option, as Colosimo's has opened a branch in Sandy.
